Healthy Meal suggestions for LongHorn Steakhouse

Food was great, and average prices for a good steakhouse. Service was SLOW. We had empty drink glasses for the majority of our meal, and had to wait 10 minutes after being seated before we even saw our waiter or had anything to drink. After the meal, we had our empty dishes and glasses on the table for 10 minutes before our check arrived.

I guess I'm too used to Argentinian steakhouses but I was definitely not impressed..The rib-eye steak itself was cooked on point but not too much flavor, and a lot of fat. It came with a caesar salad and a signature side of asparagus - again, plain and flavorless. The appetizers we ordered were not bad but the portions were so minimal..the fried calamari appetizer had about 5 tiny pieces or less - no lie and the rest was just batter.

My hubby and I were starving and looking for the nearest place to grab a bite. It was either the new "Restaurant" on Pines or Longhorn. The new place was packed, people were waiting outside and as I said, we were starving. Longhorn sat us within 10 minutes of arriving. They were very nice and (as noted from an interaction with other customers) were very accommodating. We were sat at a booth. Our waitress was very cool, she was straightforward and told us how it was going down. The wait for food was about half an hour. Ok, no prob. We noticed the $30 meal for two. Sold. We ordered two steaks, the Wild West Shrimp and two Caesar salads. The salads were great, very tasty. The shrimp is a MUST TRY. I love spicy and boy was it spicy! Well, not the shrimp itself but the Jalapeños they added in the plate. Our steaks were really good, scarfed those down. I thought we wouldn't be able to finish since we had salads and an appetizer but the steaks were so good we couldn't stop eating! Overall service was good, our waitress was no frills but quick and attentive. She was very nice and prompt with our food. It didn't take as long as I thought for the main dishes to come out. Only negative was a really annoying fly that kept buzzing around our table. Ugh. Flies and food don't mix.

Was pleasantly surprised with my visit to this establishment. I had not gone to a Longhorn in ages and found it to be better than I could remember. The service was excellent, the ribeye steak was delicious, and the ambiance very family oriented. The only negative being that on this particular day it seems everyone with babies and toddlers came out. The place sounded like a daycare with kids crying at every corner. Luckily for us we didn't have any too near us but I felt sorry for the poor folks next to them. Great experience otherwise for a chain restaurant.

When they first opened it was a great place to enjoy a quality steak. Now it's just a high end Denny's, I would not go there if it was free.

This review is not specific to the Pembroke Pines location; it just happens to be the one visited most recently. For the price, they have excellent steaks and ribs. Quite tasty. The wine is cheap, and not bad; where else can you get a bottle of red for about 20 bucks, in a restaurant? SO always wants sparkling water, anywhere, and they do not have any. The decor is cheesy but, in a way, cool. Downsides: There is always a (weak) attempt to upsell you, to some ridiculous combination of steak/seafood, or whatever, but why would anyone order something like a flan crusted sirloin with guacamole shrimps and mushy blue cheese purree, suffocating in red wine sauce??? The waiters seem to know this (but not the management), and rarely give you much of a push. Sure, it's more of a family style place. The person who creates the dessert menu must be insane though, I've rarely seen such disgusting piles of garbage. I stay away from the upsells and desserts, and am otherwise generally happy with the quality (and service). I mean, what do you expect????

My parents are funny people. They rarely venture out to find a new restaurant but when they do, it turns into a love affair that lasts on average 2.5 years. They're current love affair is with Longhorns. They've treated me there 3 times already. I have to say I understand why. Starting with the food, the most important thing. I like my steak medium and all three times they've gotten it perfect, pink in the middle with just a slight tinge of hot pink juice when I cut into it. The steak is very flavorful. Last night I ordered a 6 oz with grilled shrimp, which likewise was delicious. The fries were a bit on the salty side but that's more of a personal opinion. Second, the bread. They always serve it warm and soft. Don't be afraid to spread the butter on it, it will bring out the flavor. Lastly the service, it's always superb. My mom has a delicate stomach and usually orders very simple meals (grilled chicken light on salt, veggies and lightly seasoned mashed potatoes). They take special orders and serve it just as she requested. Now I know there are other great steakhouses in SFL, but they likely charge great prices. A dinner for 4 at Longhorn's ran us $85 including tip (we each orderd sweet tea). No dessert for us because we're usually stuffed. For the price, this is definitely a great value in steak. The food is delish and the service is superb. This goes for the Longhorn's in Pembroke Pines. I haven't tried the others yet.

We waited outside 30 minutes for a table for 4 on a Saturday at only 6:00... As we walked into the restaurant it smelled like a wet dirty rag... Then our silver wear was dirty... Then table was sticky and the menu had food crusts stuck on it... DISGUSTING!!!! We left!! Scared to even try the food!

If you go here you must have their loaded baked potato soup, it's awesome! If you're having I recommend only the cup of soup because its very rich and filling.

We were pleasantly surprised with our experience. We stopped in a Sunday night around seven there was a twenty minute wait but , seating was quicker. Jimmy our waiter was excellent, he was very informative and let us know all specials and served food and drinks promptly. The white peach sangria was yummy and we had the firecracker chicken rolls for appetizer. Our meal arrived quickly my parmesan crusted chicken was spectacular and the prime rib was made as requested. Cesar salads were very fresh and the new loaded baked potatoe soup hit the spot. It had been awhile since we had been to longhorn but we will definately be back.

First time at Longhorn and it was a great experience! I am typically not a steak fan but for some reason I was craving a juicy steak and thats exactly what I got :) I had walked into this restaurant a few months ago and was not a big fan of the smell so I walked right back out. After hearing about my boyfriends good experience there, I decided to give it a try. Our server was great, very attentive and ready to answer any questions we had about ordering. I had the outlaw ribeye (medium-well) and let me tell you, it was the juiciest, most tasteful steak I've ever had. Let me remind you, I am NOT a steak person but this steak was good enough to bring me back again. We ordered a side caesar salad which was equally as tasteful, and I had mashed potatoes with my entree. My boyfriend ordered the prime rib (medium-well) with french fries and he was very satisfied with his meal as well. It is safe to say that we will be back soon for another tasty steak!

Great service, great good! If you register for there club you get a free appetizer !! happy hour, I tried the black and blue margarita ( not on happy hour and never informed) it was very good!!! And my free appetizer I tried the lobster and shrimp dip, it was amazing ( very small, not sure if it's because it was a freebie) I had the steak and shrimp, with rice and mashed potatoes. It came with a salad and bread ( wheat bread I'm not a fan of, but it was very good, honeyish) and the salad, the house salad I loved, fresh cut tomatoes and cucumbers and the ranch was fabulously good. Our service was very good too, friendly and that made my experience well worth the money my hubby spent. Steak was a little spices but very good! The shrimp were a bit salty, I was expecting a little more, and the potatoes were the best!!!! ( stay away from the rice, poorly executed) I loved it, and would come again, with no rice and extra mashed potatoes!!!lol

Went in before seven p.m. on a weekday and I was ultra disappointed their happy hour consists of pretty very few drink specials. They have half off beer, dollar off of a few wines, and a half priced Margarita. I went with option Margarita. To be honest, I did not even taste the liquor. I did order yummy great thick lobster and shrimp soup for 5.29 a bowl. The soup was yummo but could have stood to be a lot hotter, it was lukewarm. Total bill less than $10.

Yummy! The food is great and the service is usually fantastic as well. There are days when the food isn't quite on point but for the most part it is. The rib-eye is amazing and the sweet potato with butter and cinnamon sugar is to die for! It's a great place to go to when you're in the mood for a nice dinner and some fantastic food.

The Longhorn of my youth were seedy restaurants just barely a step above fast food and had buffets that attracted senior citizens but that were eschewed by the likes of my parents. We lived in Kansas after all and steakhouses were literally "a dime a dozen" and who'd spend their hard earned dime in a chain of hardscrabble buffets? But over twenty years later I'm not in Kansas anymore and by golly sometimes you just want a good piece of beef without having to hold up a bank. It's been a real pleasure watching Miami develop into a culinary capital on its own merits but that also means, for me, a steak dinner at a top notch restaurant in South Beach is going to knock me back so hard it'll be ramen noodles for the next two weeks till the next pay day. Thankfully Longhorn has done a reimage and a sumptuous make over. Their menu is fabulous, the steak is downright delicious and just as good as anything you could get at STK or the Forge - trust me. A nice appetizer menu and fun frou frou drinks and best yet - a budget that can't be beat. When you can't justify spending $55 for a designer sliver of tasty mignon - fuggedaboutit and seek the nearest Longhorn; $55 would more than cover a slab of sirloin made your way; fixins and drinks to boot and dare I say dessert AND tip. Look, I like to eat - and the Longhorn has what you want at the price you can afford. In the last 2 months I've been to the one in Hialeah and one in Broward on Pines Blvd - both were great, equally great service, equally clean, and equally delicious.

Second time coming here and the steaks are cooked as you order them. No rare steaks when you ask for a medium rare or well done leathery steak when you ask for a medium pinkish center. While it isn't a top shelf aged steak, it is better than its competitors such as outback, etc. I am not a huge fan of chain restaurants, but I guess I could see why familiarity could be nice at times. The appetizers, such as the shrimp and lobster dip is pretty good.

We got take out... the food was absolutely awful, if I hadn't been so hungry I'd have thrown it out. The baked potato had been nuked literally and was like elephant skin on the outside and brown on the inside. The steak was tough and difficult to eat. I wouldn't go back.

Amazing, fresh, mouthwatering meats! All the meats are fresh, never frozen. Our steak arrived perfectly seasoned and cooked to order. The chicken was so tender and tasty (parmesan crusted). The veggies and salads are also amazingly fresh. We had a chocolate mountain concoction for desert, luscious texture and flavors and easily enough to share amongst 4 people. Portions are generous and prices very reasonable. They have steak, salmon, chicken and rib dinners under $15. Staff is exceedingly friendly and the atmosphere is clean, intimate and tasteful (southwestern styling). Foodies on a budget will LOVE this place. We will be back often. Is this review helpful or not? Let me know. Please vote!

Love this place, amazing food and great service, unfortunately not the best quality when its packed. They rush the food too much and don't put full effort into making it delicious. But over all 4 star, love that most meals come with a salad (even tho I get an extra side instead of a salad, Not a leaf eater) And their sides are amazing, never had a really bad experience here. Enjoy!

Been to this location a few times, so far so good but my latest experience was Wow-y. So it's a Sunday, the place is super packed, table of 30 is waiting. I go to the bar, no eye-contact whatsoever and end up leaving my to go order with the hostess. She asked me to come back after 30 mins, 45 mins later Hi! Where's my order, um--um-- what's your name? The hostess forgot to give in my order... Great! Are you looking at my rating? So I order again and sit patiently waiting. Some nice lady comes over to me and says Hi! I'm the Manager etc. and apologizes for my order getting lost, offers me a drink sits and chats with me, not only gave me a discount on my food but a HUGE Dessert for the inconvenience. I wasn't even mad, I was just like OK let me wait they are busy. I didn't b*tch or anything.. Now owing up to the mistake and going out of your way to make me feel =) get's 5 stars..

just discovered how great this place actually is. their steaks are perfectly seasoned, so perfect it doesn't need any additional sauces, i.e. A-1 or Heinz 57. the parmesan crusted chicken was so tender, i could cut it with a butter knife! their salads were awesome. the dressings they use are very good and has lots of flavor (no cheap stuff here)! i would recommend this place to anyone who is in the mood for great steak, but not having to pay the high-end steak house prices!
